Cope / pluvial

This liturgical vestment is worn by priests during the especially ceremonious parts of the mass/vesper when incense is used. It is therefore also called "vesper coat" or (in Latin) "Pluviale" = rain coat. The "smoke vesture" is a cloak that envelops the whole body being open on the front and kept together by a clasp, the so-called "morse", that is often very precious. Fahnen Kössinger manufactures these traditional garments of valuable gold brocade. The cope or cappa is seamed by gold bullion fringes all around and can be additionally equipped with a gold bullion tassel.
